East Anglia 2010
Just over an hour's drive from central London you will find the start of one of England's prettiest & most historic areas with coast, countryside, cathedrals & the famous Fenlands – waterways of the Norfolk Broads.
East Anglia consists of the counties of Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire & Cambridgeshire. This is a less-explored region of the UK but is famous for so many varied and interesting sites. Many American service personnel were based in East Anglia during WWII and the area now boasts fine Museums detailing their history in the UK.
Traveling with your local driver/guide discover the rich history of East Anglia which dates back to Anglo Saxon and Roman times. Note especially the site at Sutton Hoo where a 1300 year old Long Ship was recently discovered. You can take a cruise on the lovely waterways of the Norfolk Broads, visit the amazing acres of Lavender fields (in season – summer) and enjoy the town of Newmarket, famous for its horse racing tradition and stud farms. If you love antiques then here there are so many picturesque villages where antique stores will provide you with a wonderful opportunity to find items of real quality and provenance. If you enjoyed the BBC 'Lovejoy' TV series you will recognize many of the locations where the series was filmed. In addition you can visit many stately homes and the late Queen Mother's favorite residence – the estate at Sandringham.
